Worth The Wait...

Holy smokes! Maryann Jordan does it again! This is the second novel in The Baytown Boys series. Although I've read both novels, one could easily read Grant and Jillian's story and NOT feel lost. I think I even enjoyed this novel a tiny bit more than the first in the series. I can't wait to read more about Gareth, Katelyn, Jade, and the "island recluse"... Grant and Jillian have a history that goes back to childhood. Grant defends her honor as a child and forever wins Jillian's heart. As they graduate, Grant enlists but promises to come back to Jillian and live out the life they always envisioned. Only.....Grant didn't come back from Afganistan the same man. Grant's friend, Phillip, is killed in action and so is his co-worker. Grant suffers horrible nightmares where he "sees" Jillian laying dead from a bomb, instead of his co-worker. When Grant returns, he decides to push Jillian away because he can't be the man she deserves. Jillian is devasted with Grant's blatant disregard for her feelings. He constantly parades women in front of Jillian in hopes that she'll move on and forget about him. When Jillian decides to throw her hat back into the dating ring, Grant loses it. He realizes he wants Jillian, but doesn't know how to earn her trust and a second chance. Grant seeks help through a counselor who makes Grant realize he needs to talk openly with Jillian about his Afganistan nightmares. Will Jillian give Grant the chance to prove he's worthy of her love? I love that a big, strong Alpha man had to ask for help. I loved how Maryann Jordan "showed" us Grant's vulnerable side. We have too many soldiers return from service where they've had to do unthinkable tasks in order that we may enjoy our freedom, that never receive the help/support they need. I'm glad for organizations such as the American Legion that reach out to help service men and women. I love that a little bit of American Legion history was included in the story because it makes it more REAL. I highly recommend this novel as it has romance, laughs, history, and suspense all rolled into one novel! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Steamy, Tender, and Suspenseful Romance

Just One More Chance by Maryann Jordan is book number two in the Baytown Boys series. This is Grant Wilder and Jillian Evans' story. Jillian and Grant grew up together. They have loved each for years. After Grant came back from serving his military duty in the war zones he pushed Jillian away. This is a great second chance romance where two people who love each but have to work through some struggles to find true love. It was great how the author incorporated the importance of our men and women returning from war to find counseling to deal with the ugliness of war. The story also provided a suspense dealing with drugs in their community. I really enjoyed Grant and Jillian's story. A steamy, tender, and suspenseful romance. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Just One More Chance MaryAnn Jordan Once again in Baytown Boys MaryAnn has brought us strong characters who give you insight as to problems veterans suffer and how it effects their lives. Grant suffers from PTSD and it has affected his relationship with Jillian. How facing it and sharing it with Jillian gives them just one more chance. Can they make it work while the mystery of who is involved with the drug running through Baytown has them hoping for the future they yearn for. A great read and a very compelling treatment of PTSD and how with the right support you can overcome. I received an ARC which I voluntarily reviewed.

The Baytown Boys are back! A rewarding story!

Jillian's choice: "Guarding my heart or taking a risk." Grant Wilder has his reasons for avoiding his former girlfriend, but he's had a change of heart. Can he get Jillian to give him another chance? This is a great read! Grant and Jillian make a delightful couple. It's fun to watch their relationship develop as they work the knots out. This series gets my vote! Baytown and its central people are a fascinating crew. Most of them grew up there. Some left for a while and returned home. I love the memories they share of growing up in Baytown. The small town ambience is very different from city life, as you will see. I love this book!

Another good book in this series

Another really good read from Maryann Jordan. This is the second book in this Baytown series. You don't need to read book 1, but it will help you to get familiar with some of the characters, although she does a good job introducing them again in this one. This is a close knit group of friends who have grown up together. The men went into the armed services and have now come home. Grant and Jillian were high school sweethearts. Their future was always each other. When Grant was over seas though, he experienced a horrible loss and instead of going home to Jillian, he ran from her. When Jillian finally decides to move on, Grant realizes it is time to address his fears or lose the woman he has loved his whole life. This is a great small town romance with an element of romantic suspense. It held my attention through the whole book and I loved the second chance at romance for Jillian and Grant. Another good read in this series.
